Product Owner (full-time & remote)

As a fast-growing business, we are looking for an entrepreneurial, adaptable, and analytical Product Owner to help us to grow and bring Hyphen’s product vision into reality. As part of our product/tech team, you will be responsible for identifying pain points and user needs, and then addressing these to increase functionality and maximise added value of the solutions. To achieve this, you will work across cross-functional teams to manage product improvements, coordinate, and plan sprints, and schedule releases.

This is a unique opportunity for professionals with a hands-on experience with the digitalization of professional services from a startup or an established company as a product owner or a similar role who wish to join a fast-growing startup with a global footprint. Moreover, you have prior experience with the digitalization of professional services from a startup or an established company with deep practical experience adopting agile/scrum practices, principles, and methodologies.

You will receive the entrepreneurial opportunity to take ownership and responsibility for defining the product while ensuring maximum product value in line with user expectations and product vision. In short, it’s a unique chance to help us build and drive product development at a fast-growing company from the scratch.

What you will achieve:

  • Understand and communicate user vision: Develop a clear perspective of user goals and objectives as well as requirements from a journey lifecycle perspective and communicate them with all the relevant team stakeholders, incl. the development team, etc.
  • Personal and team development: Keep abreast with agile/scrum best practices and methodologies (e.g., user-centric design) and new trends and implement them; educate and empower team members to adopt scrum/agile practices, principles, and methodologies.
  • Product development: Proactively monitor and identify growth opportunities, and areas for improvement of the product as the user objectives and vision change and develop; actively participate and lead sprint review meetings.
  • Act as a primary point of contact: Be the primary point of contact for all the relevant stakeholders, getting the buy-in from stakeholders along with management and development teams to ensure smooth execution of the project and product delivery.
  • Market overview: Actively follow, research and analyze the market and the industry.
  • Product backlog: Provide backlog management, iteration planning, product roadmap and releases, and definition of the user stories to maximize product value in line with customer expectations and product vision.

You will have: 

  • Proven working experience with the digitalization of professional services from a startup or an established company as a product owner or a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience with deploying agile/scrum practices, principles, and methodologies.
  • Proven project management skills, including the entrepreneurial drive to develop and execute self-designed initiatives within a tight timeframe.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of business value around features/functions.
  • Ability to communicate in a concise and clear manner for different audiences.
  • High comfort level working in a continually changing environment.
  • Fluent in English, proficiency in any other languages is a plus.

Do I need a recruiting or consulting background to work at Hyphen?

No, we pride ourselves on being open to candidates from all fields and from around the globe. We believe that variety can make us stronger by broadening our range of expertise, experience and ideas.

Where would I be based and what would my schedule look like?

Hyphen is an entirely remote company, and we are happy to let most people build their work schedules around their lives within reason. Most of our team works in Europe but we also have colleagues in the Middle East and the USA so we can be adaptable.

Do you offer internships or apprenticeships?

At present, we do not offer internships or apprenticeships, but this may change in the future so please follow us on LinkedIn and keep checking our website. Alternatively, if you think you can make an impact right away, feel free to send in a speculative application.

Do I need to have a degree or any other academic qualifications to join?

A degree is not a necessity, though it helps. Some key things we look for are a desire to learn new skills, the ability to think critically and solve problems, a strong work ethic, and an entrepreneurial mindset. If you can demonstrate these traits, you might be suitable for Hyphen.

How many stages are there to this process? How long will it take?

We are keen to make sure we find exactly the right people to join our small team and so are very thorough. The length of time it will take to complete the process depends on the number of steps, which varies for different roles, but we will endeavour to make it as quick as possible.

Will I receive any feedback on my application?

Due to the number of applications we receive, we are unfortunately unable to provide individual feedback at the initial stage of the process. However, should you progress to the interview stages, you will have the option of requesting feedback on your performance.
