Hyphen was born on a two-day hike in the Swiss mountains in 2018. Eight years later, we embarked on a new trek to lay the foundation for an exciting next step in the Hyphen journey. 
 
Hyphen gathered in St. Johann im Pongau, Austria, for our second co-working retreat of 2026. It’s been a while since we were all together, so it was great to see old friends and catch up on life. The fresh air and majestic setting provided a much-needed perspective shift to reaffirm our core values and map out what’s next after a year of hard work and big wins.   
 
Kicking off the summer 2026 co-working retreat, the team bonded over an icebreaker event and shared some exciting professional and personal accomplishments. Notable mentions include an adorable new puppy, a wedding to remember, and congratulating a team member on successfully leading their first solo project at Hyphen.  

Lasting victories don’t happen overnight; they are the product of meticulous planning and lengthy training. While in Austria, the Operations and Finance teams took this adage to heart, holding workshops on our in-house tools that enable Hyphen to empower our clients to be more.

2026 was a year of hard work and big wins for the Hyphen team—and the year is not over yet! Michael Savolainen, Hyphen Founder and Managing Director, shared his outlook with the team in Austria and highlighted our growing momentum for an even more exciting 2027. These talks culminated in a leadership strategy session with some big goals for the next year.  

Artificial intelligence is rewriting the future of technology. And at Hyphen, we are open to this future, leading the way in safe AI adoption that transforms problems into client success. This was the topic of an exciting seminar during our trip, led by Hyphen software developer Adam Kovacs, that also explored the latest in AI safety, regulation, and how to protect client data. 

No Hyphen co-working retreat is complete without an unforgettable experience, and it’s safe to say that our team hike delivered on this front. As we trekked through Liechtenstein Gorge it was difficult to not be awestruck by the rugged beauty of Austria. Imagine rock walls up to 300 meters deep, trail sections just a few meters wide, and a waterfall thundering into the valley below.
