Team building in Finland on our latest quarterly co-working retreat.

Hyphen’s A-team gathered in Finland last week for our latest quarterly retreat which packed in seven days of team building, cultural exploration and co-working as we both worked and played hard.

Finland was the perfect place for our Q3 adventure as the Nordic nation has topped the United Nations’ World Happiness Report five years in a row and we could certainly see why. Our most recent adventure saw us visit the Olo Centre, an eco-tourism accommodation hub and retreat centre in Enonkoski, and Helsinki, where we could come together and enjoy the experience of connecting as a team.

As we operate remotely, coming together face to face is vital for planning for the coming months, making long-term strategic decisions and addressing key issues within the business. This time, we looked in detail at our tech solutions, budgeting preparations and operational process improvements.

Our quarterly co-working retreats are also geared towards team building and there was ample opportunity for that this time, too. The time together in Enonkoski was particularly special as we explored a spectacular rural environment. Some of our A-team introduced others to new experiences on this trip, such as fishing, preparing the catch of the day, and crafting crystal-clear ‘perfect’ ice with which to make some perfect cocktails!

We all made the most of the beautiful surroundings in our own ways during some recreation time. As well as fishing, we went cycling, canoeing, swimming, played sports, and spent time in the sauna – after all, when in, well, not quite Rome…

After time in the serene wildness, it was back to the hustle and bustle of Helsinki for a couple of days. While there, we ate an incredible dinner at Shelter and took in the Flow Festival, a major music and arts festival featuring leading artists, such as Florence and the Machine, Jamie XX and Fontaines DC among others.

As a business built around people and relationships, it is important to us to make the Hyphen experience as enjoyable as possible for our A-team, as well as our contractors and clients. Our co-working retreats are a huge part of that and we are already looking forward to our next trip, which will see us reunite in a major European city in November.
